Super Junior is a top Hallyu star of South Korea for now. But they also claimed to not be able to match the popularity of K-Pop boy band, namely, TVXQ. This was disclosed leader of Super Junior, Leeteuk, in concert press conference in Japan (13/5).
"I think we got a lot of benefits from the Hallyu Wave," Leeteuk said when asked about Super Junior's popularity skyrocketed around the world. "Many are comparing us with other Hallyu star who is also a good friend, TVXQ."
"But we still can not match them (TVXQ). TVXQ Fans is beyond our imagination," said Leeteuk. "The popularity of TVXQ is the result of their own hard work which originally only appeared in front of 500 people."
Leeteuk also praised TVXQ whose popularity seemed to pave the way for South Korean artist for a career in foreign countries through the Hallyu Wave. Japan is one of them.
"For comparison, we have never had a promo activities or any activities in Japan," Leeteuk said. "But we received a lot of love and support for K-Pop explosion. We are planning to create a sub-unit in Japan to reply to all the fans love."
